We know how it feels walking into a new studio for the first time — and we want you to feel at home right from the start. Here’s a quick guide on what to bring, what to expect, and what’s next!

What to Bring & Wear

  • Yoga Mat: Bring your own if you have one! If not, we offer rentals for $5 or mats for purchase (prices vary).

  • Essentials: A hand towel and water are always good to have on hand. If you’re attending any class (other than Yin), expect to leave a little sweaty! We do not sell bottled water, but both studios have sinks to refill for your reusable bottle.

  • What to Wear: Choose activewear that lets you move and breathe comfortably. We practice barefoot — no socks or shoes on the mat, please.

Studio Tips

  • Arrive on Time: Classes start right at the scheduled time, and studio doors lock once class begins for everyone’s safety and focus. Please arrive at least 5-10 minutes early, and if you need to register for class in person, plan to arrive 15 minutes before class.

  • Both studios have gender-neutral bathrooms, but no showers — we’re a yoga studio, not a gym!

  • We provide yoga blocks and straps for power classes, bolsters and blankets for yin, and all necessary props for kettlebell or Strong classes. Feel free to bring your own props if you prefer!

  • You’ll notice a small basket of cork hamsas in each studio (usually near the props wall).

    • If you’d like to receive hands-on assists, place a hamsa next to your mat.

    • No hamsa = no assists.

    • Forgot one? Step off your mat or signal the teacher to bring one to you.

A Note from Us

At SHINE, we believe in empowering you to “be your own damn guru.” You know your body best — so listen to it. Take a sip of water, wipe your sweat, exhale deeply, or rest in child’s pose whenever you need or want!
